The progenitor of the Burns Clan in Canada was Andrew Burns, who arrived from Scottland in 1814.  He died April 11, 1886, but not before marrying Sarah Jane Strang December 29, 1842.  She was born August 29, 1824 and died March 3, 1885.  (No photos available) My Great-Great-Great Grandparents.

Our oldest photograph of this branch of our family is that of Jesse Strang Burns.` His father was Andrew Burns (above).   He is the grandfather of Jesse C. Burns who recently died at Clinton, P.E.I. and was 91. years old.

Jesse Strang Burns, born November 9, 1843 at Freetown, P.E.I., Canada married Sarah Jane Cameron, born April 12, 1847 at Searletown, P.E.I.  They married October 22, 1872 at Freetown, P.E.I.  She died, April 30, 1936

They had six children:  Annie Edith - b. 8/4/1873; Sterling Aretas - b. 12/28/1876; Mabel Millicent - b. 9/27/1878; Louisa Lowella - b. 5/30/1880; Myrtle Jane - b. 9/22/1882; & Jesse Roy - b. 11/13/1884.

ABOVE-This picture represents the earliest known picture of my mother, Jane Roberta (Bobbie) French, held by her mother, (Left) Annie Edith (Burns) French - Her father, John J. French left rear and Annie Edith's sister to the right, Louisa (Burns) DeLong and her husband Charles, holding Eunice Mabel Delong, their daughter and first cousin to my mother.  Sitting in front are my mother's 3 sisters, Muriel, Ruth and Mabel French.  It is believed that this picture was taken in Massachusettes.
