Jebry sings . . . .
Jebry is a singer – a jazz singer – whose command, professionalism, sense of swing and sheer musicality, versatility, range and control on rhythm tunes, blues,
ballads, Dixie numbers and on a good number of contemporary tunes (done with clever twists and turns), is unparalleled. She approaches all material with strength and good humor, and more importantly, is able to project these qualities. She
commands the attention of the audience and they do, in fact, listen. Jazz critics always find it necessary to compare singers, particularly female jazz singers, to other well-known vocalists. While we're sure
Jebry listened to them and studied them, the ultimate result is refreshingly original. The one constant is that she surrounds herself with equally talented musicians. Her CDs are both soothing and exciting depending on the selection of
tunes. She has sung with such greats as Bobby McFerrin, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Drew Jr., Lional Hampton, and with the great Harry James in the late 60's. She has traveled around the world working clubs and jazz festivals and continues to
sell out concerts in Naples, Florida where she currently resides. There are few performers these days we would actually go out to hear. Ella, Peggy Lee, and Sarah are no longer with us and the young ones
aren't as great as they will be someday. Thankfully, there is Jebry. Bruce Klauber: Jazz biographer.
